HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM
Curriculum: The High School academic program at West Hill College is designed to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and independence. Each unit is delivered through inquiry-based and hands-on learning, where students actively explore concepts through experiments, group work, discussions, and real-world applications. Learning is further enriched through educational field trips, project-based activities, and exploratory experiences that bring lessons to life. Beyond academics, our program places strong emphasis on developing social skills and core values, helping students grow into thoughtful, respectful individuals. Our teachers integrate Bloom’s Taxonomy strategies to ensure that students move beyond memorization toward deeper understanding and analysis.
Alongside this, our academic track record remains a point of pride—West Hill College has maintained a 100% success rate in the Grade 12 official government exams for over ten years, with many of our students consistently achieving top rankings in the area.
SAT Program: In Cycle 4 at West Hill College (Grades 10, 11, and 12), we offer an integrated SAT preparation program designed to equip our students with the skills and strategies needed for success. Dedicated SAT English and Math sessions are held weekly, allowing students to build familiarity with the exam format and strengthen their test-taking abilities over time.
Evaluation Cards: In Cycle Four, students receive formal Report Cards every term based on a numerical grading system. These students sit for term exams four times a year and are also evaluated regularly through daily assessments such as quizzes, drop quizzes, and classroom activities. This combination ensures a well-rounded view of each student’s performance. At West Hill College, our grading system is thoughtfully designed to reflect both the learning process and academic achievement. It is divided into two main components: Formative Assessment, which carries a weight of 50%, and is based on daily work such as quizzes, drop quizzes, class participation, homework, attendance, and overall classroom engagement; and Summative Assessment, which also carries a 50% weight and is based on the main term exam. This balanced approach ensures that students are assessed fairly on both their continuous efforts and their performance in formal evaluations.
Parent-Teacher Meeting: To strengthen the home-school connection, we hold a Parent-Teacher Meeting at the end of each term, where families receive the evaluation card and sit one-on-one with the teacher to discuss their child’s progress, celebrate achievements, and collaborate on ways to support further growth.
